Estate Management
Wealth is a legacy, not just a balance sheet. Where an asset sits decides what happens to it — and that is much harder to change later.
What it is
Wealth is a legacy, not just a balance sheet. Where an asset sits determines who controls it, who inherits it, what happens if you are unwell, and what it costs to move — and those questions outrank the choice of fund in almost every case.
Most of the value is in sequencing: doing things in an order that does not create a problem for the next step.
What it involves
- Reviewing how assets are currently held across jurisdictions, including Tanzania and offshore centres
- Setting out the options with their costs and their reporting obligations, before anything is put in place
- Coordinating the trust lawyers and accountants who draft and file, through a single point of contact
- Confirming beneficiary designations on policies and accounts, which is the most commonly missed step
- Preparing the next generation, so the arrangements are understood before they are needed
- What Hament is not
- Not a law firm and not a trustee. Documents are drafted and filings are made by your legal advisers; Hament coordinates that work and does not replace it.
- Cross-border reporting
- Holding assets in more than one jurisdiction creates obligations in more than one. Those are part of the cost of a structure and are set out up front.
